Lithium-ion battery separators are used in rechargeable batteries for mobile phones, laptops, electric vehicles, and hybrid cars, and their market is growing rapidly. The battery separator is a microporous film placed between the positive and negative electrodes in liquid electrolyte gel or molten salt batteries, serving to prevent physical contact between the positive and negative electrodes while also acting as a reservoir for the electrolyte, allowing ions to pass through freely.

After producing the base film, unidirectional or bidirectional stretching processes are used to form micropores in the film, with the thickness of the microporous film generally being 10-40um, small pore size (<1um), and low porosity (~40%).
